Princess Margaret Hospital Blood Bank & Laboratory
Global Healing became involved in Dominica after being introduced to the hospital’s blood bank and laboratory directors. To replace old equipment beyond the point of repair, Global Healing has worked with Helmer Scientific, BloodSource, SEBRA and a variety of corporate sponsors to provide new equipment. Global Healing hosted its second Transfusion Medicine Symposium to address appropriate treatment of blood-related diseases and disorders on the island. Global Healing is also providing the Laboratory a Laboratory Information System to electronically track test results and facilitate data analysis and interpretation.

Espwa Donmnik - Palliative Care
Global Healing is working closely with Espwa Donmnik to provide essential information on providing modern palliative care on the island. Two specialists from California and Nevada developed a special workshop in April 2009 to the medical community on the island regarding Pain and Symptom Management and cultural issues related to providing palliatve care. Global Healing also had a chance to meet and discuss local concerns regarding community support with the Dominica Cancer Society.

Public Outreach
Global Healing produced a Public Service Announcement in Dominica to increase voluntary blood donations. The format and content was created by the local team to reach their local audience.
